Well...I have returned to Texas Corral. I returned with high hopes thanks to my last experience and how pleasant it was. I should have ordered what I got last time. Instead, I got a long island iced tea that was on special. It was very weak. I could barely taste the alcohol. I mused that perhaps they an overstock of sweet and sour mix and that's why it was on special. I also ordered a country fried steak but it tasted like a country fried hamburger. Bonus: I bit down on a chip of bone. It was awesome. Whoever owns this place is cheaping out, because my mashed potato portion was practically non-existent and it was placed under the "steak"! Weird plating. Overall it was not a good experience and I definitely won't be back for dinner. Lunch, maybe, because it's pretty hard to mess up a sandwich. As for the service, we were at our table for over 5 minutes before our apologetic server approached us...in his defense, it was busy and Saturday night so I don't blame him at all. I blame the management for short staff. All in all it was just an odd experience and I kinda wish I would have went somewhere else.

stopped here tonight at around 7:15 with a party of 5, were told there would be a little wait to get a table cleaned off. 7:35 informed the table was being cleaned off, walked by the table at 7:45 and no one cleaning. asked for a manager and as she was being gotten the hostess grabbed the bus boy to get on it now then got the manager. when the manager came up to me I asked why we had been waiting for 20 minutes to get a table cleaned , her response was "sorry, we only have 1 busboy and he works in rotation". basically telling me they didn't card about getting the table for 5 ready, even though we were the only ones waiting. piss poor management, will never go back to this one or another one.

Good food at a good price. You can get a drink, if so inclined. If you go late you may have to wait . Especially on weekend. Chicken and chops on menu. Also a burger of Southwestern flare. Good and friendly service. Oh ya peanuts on the floor. Great lunch prices on Fridays.

As I walked into this place, I became immediately confused. I thought I was in the wrong place. This place is a spitting image of the chain restaurant Texas Roadhouse (complete with peanut shells on the floor). My main concern was could they serve up a good steak! We went at a good time as we arrived right before the main dinner rush showed up. The staff was on top of things and were very friendly and helpful. The food here was decent. They started us off with a basket of fresh baked rolls which were very good. I ordered a 16 oz Texas Strip (aka NY strip). I started out with a salad which was a good size but nothing too memorable. My steak was cooked nice and rare, they way I love it and did not have much fat on it. I am not sure what they seasoned it with but it was a bit saltier than I like it. I had a loaded baked potato as a side and they were very liberal with the toppings but it was a bit overdone as the skin was a little tough. There were four of us in our group and we decided to split a piece of carrot cake. This carrot cake was probably meant for 6 people! It was about 10 inches high and 4 inches thick. It was very good also. I have had better quality before but this place was not bad at all. The portion size was very good for the price. Despite the minor quality issues, I did enjoy my meal. If the opportunity comes up again to go here for a steak, I would not turn it down. Overall, It was a solid performance..

We used to be frequent diners of this place but our last 2 trips wasn't impressive. We actually had a horrible experience! We came at 7:30pm and the place wasn't packed. our food was served 9pm! We all decided to bring it home after waiting for a long time. We have been passed from one wait staff to another. No one ever came to our table to tell us what is going on with our food orders. The entire 1 hour and a half no body explained to us why it hasn't been served yet. We were about to just leave and cancel everything but our kids wanted us to wait thinking that it is being prepared. We never heard any apology or whatsoever for the long wait. As far as the food goes, the rolls were hard, the cinnamon butter tasted different from our last countless visits, the soup was bland and the pulled pork was dry.

Service good. Wait time short. Food not so good. Ordered burger and it was like a soy burger. Gross.

Ate here during lunch time (lunch menu is not available on Sunday): food was adequate in quantity and quality; taste was average and forgettable. The server, Cassandra, provided friendly, outstanding service.

My biggest regrets: Not having one by me, and not wearing my cowboy boots. Very authentic Texas barbecue joint, with some odd details that didn't fit. Antler door handles didn't remind me of Texas as much as the giant longhorn head inside. The spicy tortellini was AMAZING, but my husband's steak fajita was fatty and chewy to the point of non-edible. Quite the range of quality. The peanut shells on the floor made you feel like you're not at a stuffy place, but the napkins on the floor just made it look like they needed to clean. I loved the range of menu, the presentation of deserts, etc. 75 cent drafts on Mondays equals a GINORMOUS win, but the music selection didn't fit the restaurant's ambiance. My biggest peeve: We went on a rainy Saturday at noon. Very few people, but the hostess sat every group that came in RIGHT next to each other. Why not give people some space when you can?

I had a very good experience here. We stopped here for lunch and we served by Casandra, she was a great waitress. We ordered the onion blossom for an appetizer which was very good, perfection for an appetizer. I had the ACYE salad and soup, I could only have one serving of each because of the delicious blooming onion. The salad and chili were ok, nothing special but edible. My wife had the chicken paninni which was overcooked and dry, our waitress Casandra took care of it by removing it from our bill. I love this place because of the peanuts, I'm a peanut afficionado, so this made the visit all the more better. I would of given a 3 1/2 star because of the staff, very friendly and good service.

My friends brought me regularly there for lunch as they have been enjoying the free hot rolls and peanuts. The service was friendly. You can park for free. The food was slightly below average for the requested price point.

Went here Friday night with my wife, daughter and grandkids. My daughter used to work here a few years ago right after they opened. Boy, has times changed....Friday was the worse experience I ever had here. The service was very good cause the daughter knew the waitress. I ordered the prime rib and the only thing hot on the plate was the potato....I was pretty disappointed.....I'll be second thinking next time I'm in the mood for a steak....

Wow i was real disapointed in this location. The shrimp i had were old and freezer burned like rubber. The food was so so and the service was ok but i would have rather eaten somewhere else. I'm easy to please but if you want to serve freezer burned shrimp count me out. Sorry Texas Coral you should never let shrimp like that ever leave the kitchen. I had chicken fried steak and it was ok the shrimp in question my wife had and she gave me half and that is how i found out lol.

Ate here 2 days in a row. Service was great! Mashed potatoes were awful but everything else was to die for!

Not a bad place. Very similar to Lonestar. We went there for lunch and had burgers. I ordered it medium rare and that's the way it came. I wouldn't say it was anything special but not bad either.

We stopped here on our way to Des Moines Iowa in June 2011. We thought we were safe with a chain restaurant and how can you go wrong with a Texas type of Roadhouse? The service was slow on a Monday night although not many people were in the restaurant. I ordered the Nachos after having a great experience at Cheddars in Georgia and was looking forward to trying these. Well the Nachos were soggy, the presentation was not appealing (thrown on the plate) All you saw was lettuce (to much) there was not much Sour Cream or tomatoes. There was no cheese sauce, just gross fake sauce made that tasted like it would be served to dogs. How can you go wrong with Nachos? I am not sure if it was a bad night or they are always this way. It was disappointing, we really wanted a great dinner after 7 hours of driving. We were going to try Ryan's restaurant up the street, and wish we ended up choosing it!

Ribs were very good, rice pilaf was just so so...loved the peanuts at the table. But why only two stars we got there at 9 and they close at 10 but started cleaning up at 9:20...I can accept cleaning parts of the restaurant that we were not sitting in but sweeping garbage off floors right beside us while we were eating really changed the taste of what were delicious ribs. Then there was so much drama going on with the wait staff and yelling back and fourth. It was all you could eat rib night so she came back and asked if we wanted more...don't think so I wanted to get out of there!!! Our waitress was very nice but I think there was a lack of management direction. Just don't go to this restaurant after 9pm they may sweep you up.

$5 liter beers on a Friday night? Sign me up!! My family and I met here for a late dinner. The service was ok, but seemed a bit spacey. My wife and I both got the pulled pork. It was pretty good for a chain restaurant. Good flavor and consistency. Also had some rice as a side, pretty good. It's close to 4 stars since they had a good beer special... but I just can't do it.

Food not cooked to order. Server "Andrew" couldn't get our food or drinks in a timely and orderly fashion. I do not recommend.

Came in with party of four and all our food came out cold. Have us free desserts but that doesn't justify cold food.

This isn't a typical stop for me while in Michigan City, but the man wanted a steak and we didn't want to drive all the way to Four Winds to get one...Onward! Overall, Texas Corral is decent. Decent food, decent service, decent place, decent location, etc. There is nothing extraordinary, but there's nothing terrible either. Pros: 1) Delicious, warm rolls with cinnamon honey butter. Yum. 2) Peanuts at the table and the bar. You can also throw them on the ground and reminisce about baseball games or just be the slob your mother (or significant other) would never allow you to be. 3) Drinks out of Mason Jars. For some reason, my husband is a huge fan. 4) Good prices. Cons: 1) Food is just okay. Nothing mind blowing or unique. 2) Beer selection is crap. 3) Sometimes you get excellent sides, and sometimes the sweet potatoes are hard. As the wise Forrest Gump once said, "You never know what you're gonna get." 4) There is still smoking in Indiana. Guess that's a pro for smokers but it kind of sucks for non-smokers. *cough* Giddy Up.

I have eaten here at least once a year since opening and that is more than enough. It is a TEXAS kind of place; wood, license plates, cacti, deer and cow horns, etc..... That is what you need to think of when you order food too. The cool environment is matched by the Texas-like wait staff. Yee haw! Although Texas sits on the Gulf of Mexico, I wouldn't order seafood from here as it is never fresh but frozen. These gulf shrimp are caught and frozen on ship. Shrimp boats may be at sea for a month or 6 weeks. Then the shrimp goes to a fish market and then a perveyor picks the shrimp. Texas Corral then buys the shrimp and ships it to the ordering stores. This shrimp may have been frozen for 60+ days. Customers usually order beef at TC, as seafood is just subsitute of a choice. Steaks are good as is the Tex-Mex stuff. The chicken plates were good too. I had AYCE rib tips but they were gastly. They were boiled in water, quick grilled and then stewed in a pot of syrup-like BBQ sauce. It was the worst BBQ I have ever had. NEVER BOIL BEEF, CHICKEN OR PORK unless you're making soup. Why do people do this? They should be arrested for protein neglect.

I'd like a beer and my nuts on the floor, thanks. I meant peanuts of course! Yes a place you can drink, trash and eat. I enjoyed our service and parts of my meal. The sweet bourbon sauce was a little out of my league for the salmon, but I loved the mashed potatoes and chili cheese fries! It was a bit rude on my part to throw peanuts on the floor so I placed the shells on a plate but sure enough I got over it and threw them on the floor and enjoyed a decent meal, good drinks and time with the family.

Ugh, nasty peanut shells everywhere, general chaos, horrible food...just not my idea of a good meal. Blech.

I am bumping this Texas Coral a star to 2 stars. Service is comprised of high school dingbat kids with hot air balloons for heads. I understand there are Federal tax deductions for hiring the mentally handicapped but this place took it to a new level. The hostesses took our party to our table like Zelda navigating Nintendo screens looking for the harp or flute, we got a hyena table neighbor. The greeting from the hostess was as heartfelt as a bristlecone pine tree's pinecone falling and hitting us in the face. We got seated next to this ADHD hyena hollering since out of 169 tables they put the 5 they had on 3 adjoining tables. WTF?! Don't stack the few tables 6.9 picometers close to each other when the place isn't busy. The food "whelmed" me. I wasn't overwhelmed, I wasn't underwhelmed (on food), I was just whelmed. The free peanuts gave this place the edge to go from "yawn" to "ho-hum". Thus 2 asterisks. I overlooked the peanuts rejected from Indiana State Prison and consumed 50% of those I shelled. Maybe if they were actually salted we can bump that up a tad to 69% peanuts shelled are consumed. Not a total airball, but if your stomach is empty and you want to act like Puff Daddy and waste some money this place will, in a stoically insensitive hostess stone statue way, indulge your inner fool. When you get the Wal-Mart round steak improperly grilled where shrimp were cooked 69 seconds prior, notwithstanding the nauseous flavor, try to be positive in the face of broccoli with sand. Sand I bet has lots of fiber.

When half the restaurant is empty and they tell it's going to be an hour wait. It's big sign to take your business elsewhere!

I have to tell you, if you go there and your server is Joseph then you will experience the professionalism and the kindness of an excellent waiter, you will enjoy a very pleasant way how he lays out the menu which such details. Been here twice so far, very dissapointing both times. For what we payed for out food it wasn't worth at all. Food tasted bad both times had to send it back and change my order. The second time.i went ordered a regular Margarita and it tasted like rubbing alcohol had to send it back. Presentation is awful, and both times the service was crap!! Done going there!!!!

Is it bad when the best part of your meal is the side salad?? We stopped in for a late lunch, hoping for a good steak. We had a 20 minute wait, even though the restaurant was at least half empty. The prime rib that I ordered looked as if it had been cut for quite awhile, and was dry and was not appetizing. My husband's steak was "ok" but says that he has definitely tasted better. The only reason for 2 stars, is the fact that our waitress was friendly & attentive.

Just don't do it... I knew walking in that this was a mistake... Low quality, with prices to high for this food.. Total rip off of Texas road house at 50% of the flavor
